Excel Integration
Paste, embed, link Excel data and charts in Word.
Paste Excel with the right option
The budget table lives in NorthgateBudget.xlsx. Copy the range → paste in Word with Home → Paste → Keep Source Formatting to preserve gridlines, or Embed to double-click back into Excel later.
Paste as Picture freezes layout for the governor PDF when you do not want accidental edits.
Link data so values update
Paste Special → Paste link → Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object inserts a linked excerpt. File → Info → Edit Links to Files shows sources; Update Now refreshes Q3 figures when the bursar saves Excel.
Broken links show Error! — fix path via Edit Links if the workbook moved on SharePoint.
Hands-on steps
