Using Built-In Templates
A template is a helpful starting point, not a perfect fit — expect to rename fields, adjust relationships, and redesign forms and reports to match your own situation.
Field Notes: A Head Start, Not a Finished Product
On the Start screen — File, then New — Access offers several ready-made templates, such as Contacts, Asset Tracking, or Project Management, each a complete, working database with tables, relationships, forms, and reports already built for a common purpose. Click a template's thumbnail, choose a file name and location, and click Create. Exploring the resulting Navigation Pane and its objects is also an excellent, very practical way to learn additional design techniques by seeing real, professionally built examples.
