Backing Up Your Database

Because Access saves your typed data continuously and automatically, rather than only when you choose to save, a regular, deliberate backup habit is your single most important safety net against mistakes, corruption, or accidental deletions. Go to File, then Save As, then "Save Database As," then "Back Up Database," for a quick, one-click, dated copy of the entire file.

For anything important, also keep periodic copies in a separate location entirely, such as an external drive or a cloud storage folder, in case something happens to the computer itself. Always close the database completely before copying its file manually through File Explorer, to ensure the copy captures a complete, consistent snapshot.
