| Block and inline elements | Block elements start on a new line and fill the width (p, h1, div); inline elements sit within a line (a, strong, span, img). | Semantic Page Layout |

| Element | A piece of an HTML document made of an opening tag, optional attributes, content and a closing tag (or a single tag for empty elements). | Elements, Tags and Attributes |
| Empty (void) element | An element with no content and no closing tag, such as <img>, <br>, <hr>, <input>. | Elements, Tags and Attributes |
| Form | A <form> element that collects user input and sends it to the action address when submitted. | Forms and Text Inputs |
| HTML (HyperText Markup Language) | The standard markup language for creating web pages. It uses tags to describe the structure and meaning of content — headings, paragraphs, links, images, tables and forms. | Introduction |
| Hyperlink | A clickable link made with <a href>, leading to another page, file, email address or part of a page. | Links Between Pages |
| iframe | An inline frame that embeds another web page, map or video inside a page. | Frames and iframes |
| Label | The visible text for a form field; <label for> links it to the field's id. | Forms and Text Inputs |
| Nesting | Placing elements inside other elements, closing them in reverse order. | Elements, Tags and Attributes |
| Semantic HTML | Using HTML elements that describe the meaning and role of their content, such as <header>, <nav> and <footer>, rather than only generic containers. | Semantic Page Layout |
| Tag | A keyword in angle brackets that marks the start (<p>) or end (</p>) of an element. | Elements, Tags and Attributes |
